Iran Sanctions Act (ISA)

The Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) is a U.S. law enacted in 1996 that authorizes sanctions against foreign companies investing in Iran?s energy sector. Its goal is to deter foreign investment that supports Iran?s development of weapons of mass destruction or destabilizing activities, by imposing penalties such as asset freezes or restrictions on U.S. business dealings.
