Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA)

An IGA is a bilateral agreement between the U.S. and foreign governments enabling FFIs to report U.S. account information via their local tax authorities (Model 1) or directly to the IRS (Model 2). IGAs prevent violations of local laws while supporting FATCA objectives.
