FATCA

The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) requires foreign financial institutions to report assets held by U.S. account holders. It also mandates U.S. citizens and residents, whether living domestically or abroad, to report foreign account holdings annually. FATCA?s primary purpose is to combat tax evasion by increasing transparency of overseas financial assets held by U.S. taxpayers.
