Demand-Side Bribery

Unlike the Convention?s supply-side focus, demand-side bribery refers to solicitations, requests, or acceptance of bribes by foreign public officials. The 2021 Recommendation urges countries to define, criminalize, and regulate solicitation by officials, including facilitation or gifts demanded by public servants?strengthening enforcement against both giving and receiving of improper benefits.
