Chargeback fraud, also known as friendly fraud, happens when a consumer makes a purchase and then disputes the charge with their bank, claiming it was unauthorized or that the product was not received, despite having received the goods or services. This leads to financial losses for merchants and increased scrutiny of legitimate disputes.
