Tipper

Tipper refers to a person who discloses material non-public information to someone else, known as the tippee, often in violation of a fiduciary duty. The tipper can be an insider, such as an employee or executive, who shares confidential information expecting the recipient to trade on it, which can lead to legal consequences for both parties.
