Subcultural Theory

Subcultural theory suggests that certain groups within society develop their own norms and values that may conflict with mainstream cultural expectations. These subcultures, often formed in response to social exclusion or inequality, can promote behaviors considered deviant or criminal by the larger society. Crime, in this context, is seen as a way to gain status or acceptance within the group.
