Responsible Officer (RO)

A Responsible Officer (RO) is an individual authorized by an FFI to oversee FATCA compliance. The RO ensures proper due diligence, certification, and reporting are completed per IRS regulations. Their role includes filing certifications of compliance or identifying events of non-compliance. Serious lapses by the RO may lead to enforcement actions.
