Privity of Contract

Privity of contract is a legal doctrine stating that only parties involved in a contract have the rights and obligations under that contract. Third parties who are not part of the agreement generally cannot enforce or be bound by its terms, limiting contractual rights and liabilities to the contracting parties alone.
